RPG Basics

Role playing games or RPGs are games in which you lose your persona and completely take on the persona of your character. It's getting in touch with your inner child and fantasies and just letting them flow while sharing the experience with others. RPGs are usually rules-light, ad-libbed, fast-paced and very fun live games played with at least two people. The key to a great game is really the more, the merrier. In D&D, you first roll-up a character. It's nice to have a character sheet like below but a plain piece of paper can do in a pinch.

Character Sheet

You do this by creating and naming your character, taking the specialized dice that run from 1d4 (1 die-4 sided) to 1d100 (1 die-100 sided) are typical and entering the numbers appropriately on your character sheet for statistical purposes that will help determine personality, charisma, strength, agility and other factors that provide the basic foundation of your character. Most characters that are played in the 4th edition are rolled and played using the 20-sided dice to get a faster game-play. D&D Races
